Sold Item Notice

Bought by us from the family of Lt. Col Pell; the sword is not marked to him, this is just "by repute" provenance and there seems no reason to disbelieve them, especially as they were selling other items of his at the same time. A rare example with the scabbard, frog, straps, knot and carry bag all present and included in the price. The sword is exceptionally good except for the blade which has been replated and thus the etching detail is feint.

The 32 3/4 inch blade is very bright, some small rust patches, firm in the hilt. The hilt is in very good condition, the fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings equally so. The leather scabbard, frog and straps also very good, the sword sheathing and drawing well. The sword knot is good, the leather carry bag aged but sound. A very attractive and complete item. Further / large images available upon request. Please quote item reference number C70 (658).
