1897P George V / WW1 era British Infantry
Officer's Sword (sold)
A J. R. Gaunt made 1897 pattern WW1 era British Infantry Officer's
Sword in good condition.
A well above average King George 5th British infantry officer's
sword made by a well above average sword maker, J. R. Gaunt.
Complete with original field service leather scabbard, frog and
straps, this is a very good World War One era sword. The 32 1/2
inch blade is well etched, some patina spots but mostly past the
etched area. Tiny rust spotting to the hilt guard which mirror the
aging elsewhere, so not a detriment overall. Some rust spots to
the backstrap and other areas of the hilt, again commensurate with
the sword as a whole. The original sword knot as with the leather
scabbard, etc. are in good order. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A well above average example. Further / full sized images upon request.
