WW2 Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn Sykes Fighting
Knife 1st Pattern (sold).
In a rare SOE (Special Operations Executive) sheath, a WW2 Wilkinson
Sword made Fairbairn Sykes F-S Fighting knife.
Clearly WW2, the sheath is a rare variant from the norm for an
SOE issued 1st Pattern F-S Fighting knife. You can see the wear
and salts in the sheath, so clearly it was well and truly soaked
in sea water several times; the sheath has clearly been around and
could tell many a harrowing story for sure. The 6 inch blade fits
perfectly into the sheath. Although F-S blades are normally 6 1/2
to 6 3/4 inches long, other lengths were made and this is obviously
one of them. In fact, the 6 inch blade was preferred by many and
gave rise to the Applegate-Fairbairn fighting knife for US commandos.
In any event, we guarantee this is an authentic period 1st Pattern
F-S knife and original sheath, and being a variant should be more
desirable to collectors. This was a golden opportunity to acquire
a very rare item. Full sized photos available upon request. Our
item reference number is B29 (509).
