1821 Patt Wilkinson Solid Hilt 5th Dragoon
Guards Sword, sold |
In good overall condition, an Edward 7th (1904) Patent Solid Hilt
Wilkinson Sword British 1821P heavy cavalry officer's sabre, with
original owner's initials, for the 5th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's)
Dragoon Guards.

A rare Edward VII Wilkinson Patent Solid Hilt 1821P heavy cavalry
sword with the original owner's initials "H A H" and 5th
(Princess Charlotte of Wales's) Dragoon Guards markings to the blade.
This sword is unresearched. The Wilkinson sales ledger is available
and should yield the officer's full name, or a 1905 / 1906 Army
List should yield the same. Serial number 40199 for 1904.

The 35 inch blade is in very good condition, some patina but not
too much, and the etching very crisp. The blade of course is rigid
in the hilt, 100% firm as you would expect from a Patent Solid Hilt
by Wilkinsons. The steel hilt has suffered rusting, but is very
sound and would clean up if required. The grip and ring bindings
are in very good shape. The leather field service scabbard is good
but the drag / shoe is in poor order. The blade sheathes and draws
well. A rare chance to acquire one of these prized swords. Further
/ full sized images available upon request. Please quote item reference
number B23 (452).
