WW2 British Inniskilling Fusiliers Officers
Wilkinson Sword, For Sale
In aged and embattled condition, the WW2 British Expeditionary
Force / Inniskilling Fusiliers Officers Wilkinson Sword of then
Lieutenant A S Cundy-Cooper.
Serial number 67093 for 26th March 1938, the Wilkinson ledger confirms
this to be the sword of A S Cundy-Cooper, Inniskilling Fusiliers,
who took this sword as part of the British Expeditionary Force on
the 16th September 1939.
The 32 1/4 inch blade is well aged with patina and even some rust
at the point (the very point is gone). Blade firm in hilt. The hilt
with age and rust spots. The original leather grip is good but has
lost its grip wire. The leather field scabbard has age and has lost
its frog suspension strap but is quite good. The sword sheathes
and draws well.
Very evocative sword with full provenance for a decent price, £500.
