1897 Pattern Victorian British Infantry Officer's
Sword by Mole, Sold |
In very good condition (repair to scabbard), a superb 1897 Pattern
Victorian British Infantry Officer's Sword by Mole.

In great condition for its age except for a mastic strengthening
repair to the scabbard leather just above the chape / drag. The
previous owner says it was originally owned by an officer in the
Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment.

The 32 1/3 inch blade (serial number M4434) is in very good condition
for its age, some light patina patches, period sharpening area around
the point. Blade firm in hilt; the hilt / guard generally very good.
The fishskin grip and twisted grip wire all in good slightly aged
/ faded condition. The very nice leather and steel scabbard is very
good except for mastic repair / strengthening patch, possibly period.
The sword sheathes and draws well.
Robert Mole made some of the very best quality swords, and this
is one of them. Very nice for £? (too late, now sold). Please
quote item reference AD81 (0595). Further / full sized images available
upon request..
