1740 Pattern English Infantry Hanger / Sword,
In good condition, a rare 1740 Pattern (Battle of Culloden era)
English Infantry Hanger / Sword.
This is the pattern of sword carried by English infantrymen at
the Battle of Culloden in 1746. This one has distinctive very old
nicks to the back edge, so it may well have seen battle there.
The 23 3/4 inch blade is sound though aged and with a couple of
said nicks. The blade is firm in the hilt but the grip is a little
loose in the hilt. The hilt / guard / grip is overall good.
Every collection should have one. This one is available for £600.
