1820-1850 British Household Cavalry Life
Guard Officer's Sword, for sale
In overall good condition, a scarce 1820-1850 British Household
Cavalry Life Guard Officer's Dress Sword.
Made by Andrews of 9 Pall Mall London who was the sword maker of
choice of the Life Guards. This pattern of sword was flexible to
an extent with the hilts /guards varying significantly from sword
to sword (some have full shell guards, some have folding shell guards;
this one has a half shell guard).
The 32 inch blade is in good condition, a few small patina patches
but not too many, and is firm in the hilt. The hilt overall good,
the silver metal twisted grip is also sound / good. There is the
remains of the sword knot. The leather scabbard has suffered the
years with a break (tape covered) towards the chape and the top
fitting is missing. The sword sheathes and draws well enough though.
Scarce sword, scarce low price: £750. Please quote item reference
number AD17. Further / full sized pictures available upon request.
