WW1 / George V Scottish Highland Infantry
Officer's Broadsword, SOLD |
In good overall condition, a rare WW1 / George V Scottish Highland
Infantry Officer's Broadsword with Order of the Garter etched to
the blade.

Rare to find a blade etched with the Order of the Garter (blades
are marked as a combined coat of arms within the belt and motto
of the Order of the Garter). Shame there is no provenance to identify
the original owner / officer.

The 32 inch blade is overall good, though with age. There is no
maker's / retailer's details etched to the ricasso, but the brass
proof slug has the letter "H" which indicates maker Hobson.
Blade firm in the hilt / grip. The hilt / guard with tarnish / age
and some small plate bubbles / rust spots. There is not scabbard
but these do come to the market fairly regularly.
A rare item courtesy the Order of the Garter badge. Yours for £?
(too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC69 (0344). Further
/ full sized images available upon request.
