1899P Boer War British Army Veterinary Corps
Trooper's Sword, for sale |
In good to very good condition, a 1899 Pattern Boer War British
Army Veterinary Corps Trooper's Sword, by Enfield, complete with
original camouflage paint.

An iconic scarce sword made rare by its "A V C" (Army
Veterinary Corps) markings and original dark green camouflage paint.
Marked "EDF" to the blade for maker "Enfield".

The 33 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition but with some pitting
and staining towards the point end. Blade firm in hilt. The hilt
with most camouflage paint remaining a little distorted / damaged
but not much. The black scaled grip in very good condition. The
black sword knot probably a later addition. The heavy steel scabbard
with most green camouflage remaining is in good order. The sword
sheathes and draws well.
Nice to have a sword that shows horse vets rode with swords with
the cavalry they supported. A nice, nice £600. Please quote
item reference AC45. Further / full sized photos available upon
request. Box 0284-1.18 (3.115).
