The 1892 pattern was made from 1892 to 1895, when the brass gothic hilt was replaced with the all new steel hilt. Not only was the 1892P made for a relatively short time, but most blades were rehilted into the new 1895P steel hilt, so very few 1892P's remain. The 1892P replaced the 1854P only courtesy of the new "dumb bell" blade (1854P's had a fullered blade). There really are very few VRI 1892P's like this.

The 32 1/4 inch blade has some patina but is generally very good, the etching still clear (no visible maker / retailer name) and firm in the hilt. The hilt good but the quillon has gone. The grip is now down to its hardwood bade, which has been blackened and more modern grip wire added. The steel scabbard is good but with patina and a couple of small dents. The sword sheathes and draws a bit loosely.

A rare sword for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC44 (0303). Further / full sized images available upon request.
