Late 18C English Infantry Officer's Bone
Handled Spadroon, Sold
In aged but sound condition, a late 18C English Infantry Officer's
Bone Handled Spadroon.
Please note: bone not ivory! An American War of Independence (Revolutionary
War) ear sword; who knows, maybe it was there!
The 29 1/2 inch blade has plenty of age (slight regular pitting
and patina throughout) and a rounded tip (was often done by retiring
officers) but is sound and firm in the hilt. The bone grip has plenty
of age cracks but is sound (small chip missing one side under pommel).
Backpiece has a little movement, not much.
Nice sword with rarely seen bone grip. Our price is £? (too
late, now sold). Please quote item reference AC39 (0291). Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request.
