Ju Tadayoshi, Sold |
In sound condition, WW2 Japanese Army Officer's Wakizashi, blade
signed Hizen Ju Tadayoshi (Edo period / 17th Century)

The blade with visible hamon but with rust spots (we believe it
would polish but do not guarantee it). There doe snot appear to
use to be any kizu (flaws). Several examples of blades signed "Hizen
Ju Tadayoshi" are known, but there is no material / known connection
with the famous Hizen Tadayoshi school. However, the blades are
frequently admired for their work. The smith is known to have worked
in the Edo period (17th Century).

The 21 3/4 inch Nagasa (cutting edge section) blade is good condition
except for the rust spots (these are black, inert, and slightly
raised). The wakizashi generally is worn and aged, the fuchi is
missing, the habaki is damaged.
These blades normally sell for well over £1000. This entire
wakizashi is yours for £? (too late, now sold). Please quote
item reference AC10 (0222). Further / full sized images available
upon request.
