Eiroku era (1558-1570) Mino Wakizashi, Kaneaki,
In overall good condition, a Eiroku era (1558-1570) Mino Wakizashi,
The signature on the mei appears to be Kaneaki, though possibly
Kaneyuki. Given the age of the blade, the only perfect match we
can find is Eiroku
era Mino smith Kaneaki. This is quite a long wakizashi with
a 23 inch blade, falling just short of katana length.
Blade with some ware, in good condition, hamon just visible. Modern
"furniture" (tsuba, tsuka, saya, etc.) in good order,
though the ito (braided grip wrapping) does not fully cover the
tsuka (grip) (there are small gaps and the ito is a little loose).
The same (rayskin) may be faux. Saya (scabbard) in good order. The
sword sheathes and draws well enough.
A respectable and very old blade for only £? (too late,
now sold) . Please quote item reference number AC04 (0148). Further
/ full sized pictures available upon request.
