Japanese Wakizashi, Kaneyoshi, possibly Mino
- Bunmei / Taiei era, sold
In sound condition, a Japanese Wakizashi, Kaneyoshi, possibly
Mino - Bunmei / Taiei era.
This is a wakizashi with a lot of potential. It needs a polish.
The point has lost its tiniest tip (the tip can be reformed without
any great issue). The signature appears to be Kaneyoshi with the
seeming use of fairly rare characters for the signature, which examples
are known to belong to two Mino smiths, Bunmei (1469-1487) / Taiei
(1521-1528) era, but you make up your own minds. We are selling
this item, which has a well and traditionally made blade with some
considerable age at a price shinshintos go for.
The 20 1/2 inch / 52 cm (Nagasa) blade is in sound condition. The
furniture is aged, especially the saya and tsuka (handle); the ito
is weak and almost apart in places, the rayskin / same has a hairline
split one side, the seppa are not much to speak about. But, the
tsuba is a beauty.
Great as it is (for the price) or one to spend some money on to
surely make into superb wakizashi. Yours, just £? (too late,
now sold). Please quote item reference AB65 (0123). Further / full
sized images available upon request.
