WW2 Japanese Shin Gunto Katana, Takeyama
In very good condition, a WW2 Imperial Japanese army officer's
shin gunto katana, signed "Noshu seki ju Takeyama Yoshinao
saku" with Showa acceptance stamp.
Takeyama Yoshinao was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho sword smith who therefore
received tamehagane which is required to make high quality blades;
here for details.
The 26 1/4 inch blade is in exceptionally good condition, with
minimal marks / scuffs. The sword generally is also very good for
its age; the same and bindings are very good, so too the scabbard
with the locking pin mechanism present and working well. The sword
sheathes and draws well.
Well, well above average shin gunto from a quality swordsmith.
