World War One British Infantry Officer's
Wilkinson Sword, Sold
In good condition, a WW1 British Infantry Officer's Wilkinson
Sword; serial number 46622 for 1915, with owner's initials to all
It may well be possible to trace the original owner (despite the
fact the Wilkinson sales ledger has a gap covering when this sword
was made) as their initials "H. G. P. A.) are on the all weather
bag and it is almost certain he survived the war as the blade has
been period replated, most likely by Wilkinson (due to quality),
therefore indicating it was being carried for some time after it
32 Inch blade in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt
with some age, but very little. The grip also in good condition.
The leather knot and field service scabbard in good shape; the sword
sheathes / draws well. The roeskin bag liner is aged and the top
stitching has come astray, but is sound. The leather all weather
bag in good though aged condition.
It is nice to get a good clean example like this with the bags
on top, plus a chance to research the original owner officer. A
low £xxx and it is yours (too late, now sold, but we can divulge
the original sales price for a small fee)! Please quote item reference
