1897P George V Royal Marine Officer's Sword,
Scabbard, & Bag (sold) |
In overall good condition, a George 5th Royal marine officer's
sword to a named officer, with scabbard and all weather leather
carry bag.

The all weather bag with travel address tag still attached, marked
to Lieutenant D A H Roberts, Royal Marines, and on the reverse,
"Bagateler Market Harborough via Waterloo and St Pancras".
This is an un-researched sword, open for anyone / the buyer to do
so on Lieutenant Roberts.

Overall in very good order, though the carry bag is very aged.
The dress weight 32.5 inch blade carries the emblem and name "The
Royal Marines" as well as George 5th's royal cypher, plus the
serial number 15967 to the spine. Blade is firm in the hilt with
some discoloration spots, but generally very good. The hilt equally
good, the metal with some spots of course. The fishskin grip is
generally good but with some areas of wear; the twisted grip wire
bindings are sound. Leather field scabbard, remains of original
leather sword knot and leather carry bag all included.
A good collector's piece with the chance for research on the original
owner. Well worth the £400 price tag. Further / full sized
pictures available upon request. The item reference number is A0.
