Sales enquiries

This nimcha once belonged to one of the feared, legendary Barbary Corsairs (AKA Ottoman Corsairs or Berber Pirates). These pirates terrorized the Mediterranean and beyond, capturing some 1 million Europeans for the African and Middle Eastern market.

This example has a 17C style Passau wolf to the blade; whether this is a genuine Solingen blade or simply marked that way, I could not say. The blade also has some more basic regional talismanic markings.

The 33 3/4 inch blade is certainly one of the longer naval swords you will come across. It is fairly firm in the hilt, the hilt is loose and has lost some metal one side, but over is sound. The shell guard and single down turned quillon showing this to be a naval sword held by someone from Algeria most likely. Try finding another and then you will realize that the sales price is a great investment indeed. My item reference number is 972 (460).
