George 6th / WW2 Royal Canadian Navy Officer's
Sword (sold) |
Marked to Wilkinson Sword and with original owner's name to folding
guard, a George 6th / WW2 Royal Canadian Navy officer's sword.

Original Royal Canadian Navy officer's name, A B Rivers RCN to
the folding guard, this George 6th / WW2 sword is marked to Wilkinson's
of London, though unusually has no serial number to the spine.

Unresearched, so someone with some time could have a worthwhile
hobby researching A B Rivers; I only know he was an officer during
WW2. The 31 1/2 inch blade is very well etched and in very good
condition with only a few rust spots and which are thankfully away
from the etched area with covers 3/4 of the blade. The blade is
firm in the hilt which retains some worthwhile gilt. The fishskin
is a little grubby but could be cleaned up. The twisted wire grip
bindings are all present and correct except for a little wayward
section on one turn. The sword sheathes and draws well, the folding
guard section locks perfectly onto the scabbard retaining pin. The
scabbard is aged but commensurate with the sword. A very good example.
Further / full sized images upon request. My item reference number
is 853 (371).
