1856 Pattern British Pioneer Sawback Sword,
In very good condition, an 1856P British pioneer's sawback sword
made by W.R. Kirschbaum (Solingen).
Many of this pattern were made in Solingen for the British Army;
you can tell it is a British army sword courtesy of the crown inspection
mark (crown over 18 in this case) next to the knight's head logo
of W.R. Kirschbaum. A hefty sword more about cutting through bamboo
and other vegetation than hand to hand combat.
The 22 1/4 inch blade is in very good order and firm in the hilt.
The hilt is in very good order too. Blade also marked with "1958"
(this is a rack number, not the year). A great example . Further
/ full sized photos available upon request. Item Ref: 758 (320).
