1861 Pattern British Victorian Infantry Staff
Sergeant's Sword (sold)
Made by Robert Mole, Birmingham, an 1861 pattern Victorian British
infantry staff sergeant's sword in very good condition.
It is rare to find this pattern of sword in such excellent condition.
As an issued (British army purchase) sword, these generally endured
long, harsh service lives, yet this one is in untypically fine condition.
Regulation 32 1/2 inch blade is marked to Robt Mole Birmingham
and bears a couple of acceptance / inspection marks; the blade is
in fine condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt, with its
simplified "VR" royal cypher is in very good order, the
fishskin grip and twisted wire grip bindings all good. The steel
scabbard a little aged by the sword sheathes well and the scabbard
is in overall good order. An exceptional specimen. Further / full
sized pictures available upon request. My item reference number
