1800's British Naval Officer's Dress Dirk

Sales enquiries

Good example of one of the more popular "patterns" of British naval officer's dress dirks from the 1800's; unlike other bladed weapons, dirks were not regulation. This ivory or bone handled dirk has the so-called "propeller" style quillons popular with enthusiast collectors. The 29.5 cm blade has a single fuller, patina and is fairly firm in the hilt. Although it is a dress dirk, it would still have also been worn on board the vessel and no doubt would be used if circumstances required. Further pictures available upon request.
